studied engineering with the emphasis machine tools in Bielefeld and Bochum trained as a machinist at Melitta group in Minden.
He started his career as a development engineer at Schlumberger Technologies, one of the world’s largest companies for oil exploration in the area of fuel station technologies.
As assistant production manager at a Daimler-Benz subsidiary, Telefunken harness GmbH in Mülheim a.d. Ruhr, he was trained intensively within the group in Lean Management (Leadership & Management, methodology and factory planning).
As unit manager at market leader in heating, ventilation and air conditioning technology, Joh. Vaillant GmbH in Gelsenkirchen, he was responsible for the manufacturing and assembly areas with over 500 employees. At that time the Group-wide „lean management“ was introduced. His personal successes was implementing the principles of “lean production”, through the introduction of Kanban systems, by switching to JIT (Just In Time) deliveries with suppliers and move to process-oriented way of thinking with the goal of high cost efficiency and customer satisfaction.
After this Dipl.-Ing. Martin F. Schmidt continued his professional career in the automotive supplier industry at REGE-Engine-Components GmbH in Eisenach. His main task as plant manager was the outsourcing of the engine plant from the VW Group and integration into the REGE-Group. Under his responsibility, 170 additional jobs were created through the investment into newest machining and assembly technologies.
In 2001, he and his colleague, founded the company consultancy Süd-West-Engineering GmbH in Dortmund. The main focus was on consulting projects in groups and medium-sized companies with complex production processes in Germany and abroad. In 2002 he received the International Best Service Award from the Export Academy of Baden-Württemberg. As a representative of VDI, he was a member of the Organizing Committee for the Ludwig Erhard Prize, the German Quality Award.
With the aim of building an integrated management consultancy, taking into account the “soft factors”, he founded Mutamus Consulting in Bielefeld, where he became Chairman of the Management Board after his conversion to a AG. In addition to successful restructuring and rehabilitation projects, un more than 250 projects encompassed complex consulting mandates even in the field of efficiency improvement in Germany and abroad. Mutamus Consulting AG was the first company be certified according to the requirements of the automotive industry. In addition, he was for many years chairman of the trade association project management in the BDU eV (Federal Association of German Management Consultants).
For family reasons, he sold his shares as principal shareholder and worked for 4 years as a consultant and interim manager at Tönsmeier Dienstleistungs GmbH & Co KG (Head of Group Multiproject Management) in Porta Westfalica as well as another managing director of Tönsmeier Glas Beteiligungs GmbH.
With the former CEO of Tönsmeier group he built up the Emergy Excellence GmbH in Hamburg, Porta Westfalica in March, 2015.
In January 2017, the business development division was spun off. For this he founded the ProGemma GmbH as managing partner.
